Areas of Practice
Yvonne Cristovici is a partner in the firm’s Litigation Department and a member of its White Collar Crime & Government Investigations Practice and Securities Litigation and SEC Enforcement Practice. She represents individuals and corporations in connection with white collar criminal and regulatory investigations, internal corporate investigations and complex business and securities litigation. Ms. Cristovici also represents indigent defendants in criminal cases in both state and federal courts.
Work for Clients
Ms. Cristovici’s past and current work includes the representation of individuals employed by major U.S. brokerages in civil and regulatory matters stemming from investigations into the stock loan industry; employees of major financial institutions in connection with insider trading and mutual fund market timing investigations; an individual in a high-profile government corruption and money laundering investigation; a corporate officer in connection with a federal money laundering and illegal gambling investigation; a former KPMG partner charged in the U.S. v. Stein case (billed as the largest tax fraud case in United States history); and numerous individuals and entities involved in complex business and financial litigation, including securities fraud, shareholder class and derivative law suits and alleged breaches of fiduciary duties.
Ms. Cristovici also has counseled individuals and corporate clients in connection with internal investigations and investigations by the Securities Exchange Commission, Attorney General’s Office and other governmental entities regarding allegations of securities fraud, accounting fraud, insider trading, misappropriation of funds, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations and corporate governance violations.

Ms. Cristovici has co-authored numerous articles in various periodicals, including “5th Circuit Confirms an Expansive Reading of the FCPA in United States v. Kay,” Andrews White Collar-Crime Reporter (February 2008); “Navigating Parallel Proceedings,” New York Law Journal (June 2006); “Mutual Fund Market Timing,” The Federal Lawyer (January 2005); “In Re Merrill Lynch: A Sensible Approach to Loss Causation,” Bank and Corporate Governance Law Reporter (February 2004); and “Insider Sales Usually Inadequate to Plead § 10(b) Scienter,” New York Law Journal (December 2002).
Professional Experience
Prior to joining Goodwin Procter, Ms. Cristovici was an associate in the Business and Securities Litigation Department of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP in New York City. In 2000-2001, she served as law clerk to the Hon. Justice Alice Desjardins of the Federal Court of Appeal of Canada.
