Brooks Brown, a partner in Goodwin Procter’s Litigation Department and a member of the Consumer Financial Services Litigation Practice Group, specializes in general civil litigation with particular emphasis on the defense of financial institutions in consumer financial services class actions. He also focuses on land use litigation and internal and government investigations. Mr. Brown is a member of the firm’s pro bono committee and serves as the pro bono partner for Los Angeles.

Work for Clients

As a member of the firm’s Consumer Financial Services Litigation Practice, Mr. Brown has defended a variety of putative nationwide class actions arising under the Real Estate Settlement Procedure Act (RESPA), Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair Housing Act (FHA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), state unfair and deceptive trade practices acts, and other consumer lending statutes and regulations. He has also represented a number of leading financial and other institutions in commercial disputes.

Mr. Brown is a member of the American Bar Association and other state and local organizations.

Publications/Presentations

Mr. Brown is the co-author of a section of Trial Basics: An Introductory Series for New Trial Lawyers entitled “The Conclusion of Trial: Closing Arguments, Jury Instructions, Special Interrogatories, Post Trial Motions and Requests for Findings and Rulings under Rule 52,” published by Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education.

Mr. Brown is a former special assistant district attorney for Middlesex County, Massachusetts. He has also served as a faculty member for Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education trial practice law seminar.
