Mark Bettencourt, a partner in the firm’s Technology Companies, Corporate and Private Equity Groups, concentrates in general corporate and securities law and has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, public offerings, private placements of debt and equity securities, securities law compliance, and technology transfer and licensing.
Work for Clients
Mr. Bettencourt represents private and public companies in a wide range of industries, including software, Internet, digital media, robotics, communications and networking equipment, and information services. He works with numerous companies from their initial financing through successful initial public offerings or acquisitions. A significant portion of Mr. Bettencourt’s practice involves cross-border acquisitions and financings. He regularly counsels Irish, Canadian and other non-U.S. technology companies in connection with their U.S. operations.
Mr. Bettencourt also represents venture capital and private equity firms in connection with portfolio investments in operating companies, and investment banks in connection with underwritten public offerings.

Prior to joining Goodwin Procter in 2005, Mr. Bettencourt was a partner in the Business Practice Group at Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault in Boston, where he served as co-chair of the Corporate Finance and Securities Group.
