Robert Basseches, a senior counsel in the firm’s Litigation Department, specializes in the areas of maritime transportation and administrative litigation.
Work for Clients
Mr. Basseches represents carriers, terminals and other maritime interests before the federal maritime agencies and in court. His current maritime clients include American President Lines, Ltd., The NOL Group and Ceres Terminals Inc.
Professional Activities
Mr. Basseches is a past-president of the Maritime Administrative Bar Association and a past-chair of the American Bar Association Maritime Transport Subcommittee. He has been selected for inclusion in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and The Best Lawyers in America.
Professional Experience
Mr. Basseches was an attorney at Shea & Gardner prior to its combination with Goodwin Procter in 2004. Before his practice at Shea & Gardner, he served as Law Clerk to Justice Hugo L. Black of the U.S. Supreme Court and Judge David L. Bazelon of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
